I loaded Whitelist onto my server and confirmed it does work - my kids cant connect and the correct message "You are not whitelisted" does display when they attempt a connection.

In console I've tried whitelist.allow [steam ID] but it gives no confirmation or error that the command whitelist.allow has been received.  

I've tried adding them as admin using oxide.grant Rust [steam ID] admin but I get the error message "Permission 'allow' doesn't exist".

I'm getting no errors in the logs.

Anything I'm obviously doing wrong?

The permission is "whitelist.allow", not "allow".

oxide.grant group admin whitelist.allow

or

oxide.grant user STEAMID whitelist.allow

"oxide.grant Rust STEAMID admin" is not a valid command.

i am also having trouble with permissions im typing oxide.grant user STEAMID whitelist.allow into the web console on host havoc and im getting no results and cant join my server the plugin is working because it kicks  me saying im not whitlisted what am i doing wrong please help i am entering my steam id inplace of STEAMID

How are you using it exactly? The command that is.

through the web console command line in the host havoc gamepanel

sorry if thats not what your asking im quite new to this stuff just sick of being griefed while im playing rust lol

I'd need to see how you are using the oxide.grant command exactly.

oxide.grant user 76561############ whitelist.allow is exactly what i type into the web concsole command line my server provider is host havoc

Did you try using it via in game chat or F1 as admin?

i cant join server as im not whitelisted or do i have to make myself admin of the server first and enter game that way?

You'd add yourself as admin via users.cfg or RCON. Remove the plugin, join the server, grant the permission; else try an RCON client other than your host.

in the users.cfg do i use my steam id or user name

made myself admin successfully and can now access my server with the plugin installed thankfully thanks for you help sir i know im very green with all this. to add my friends do i have to have the plugin uninstalled or can i add them to the whitelist ingame with it still installed and what would the command to do that look like. agian thank you for your help and patience

I'd suggest trying the granting again in game.
