Free plugin, but need to paySolved

Soooo, you offering a free plugin, but using it will cost us money on a monthly basis as some kind of payment to allow US to CONNECT our ACCOUNTS to YOUR system? if you offered the whole package deal without you having a single control of what comes on my doorstep. alright.. cool, but you can easy control everything ain't it? Collecting data... please, delete your account and be gone.

umod? how many fucking red flags does this plugin need for a takedown? Who is sleeping? This kid is just stealing information.

Thanks for your feedback. Typically using a Single-Sign-On (SSO) services will not compromise your accounts. If you have proof that the service behind this plugin is not using official SSO endpoints (provided by Steam/Discord) and stealing credentials, please let us know with corroborating screenshots and information. Further, you are absolutely correct in that it should be more obvious third-party services are required, whatever their provenance.  We'll take a look into automating some sort of notification to indicate a plugin that requires third-party services in order to avoid confusion.

Discord Linker is a part of the Game Server Tools family. Discord Linker provides an easy-to-install and get-running account linker for your game server. No code ( no code?), no servers ( no servers? ) everything is done for you. ( for me? ohh, what nice )

On its own this plugin does nothing. You will require an API key in order to use this plugin. If you would like to try it for FREE ( whooptiedoo, 2 days? 3 days free? ) head to discordlinker.com and get in touch. Prices vary depending on the number of servers required. For one server it costs £8.50 per month. This includes the base fee of £5.0 and the price for the server(£3.50).

( meaning, i have to sign up, making an account. give my payment details... where was that SSO? )

Usage

Users head to your discordlinker.com site and sign in with their Steam account and Discord account example ( no example linked, as its advertisement and I keep banning one or two advertisers on my server about that *censored* servers ). They then automatically join your Discord Guild and can then be given a one-time reward, discord role, and be put into an oxide permission group.

There is not a single SSO involved here. Players have to sign in with their steam profile and discord account.... like if we didn't have a ton of problems before on discord with fake nitro gifts and on top of it, he asks money for a simple service that's on several other websites that are free.

If there are no servers, how can he handle payment transactions? Where is his chamber of commerce? His Tax number? his official company email address? This kid uses Gmail.. and a free theme found on the internet.

A separate menu section would do perfectly. Also, as they have their services with a 3rd party, means that they have to donate to umod in order to offer their services here to show loyalty and it shows that they are not scams. It should not be the case that people can make money off your backs ( what kinda is happening for the past 5 years now, but you get the idea )

wanted to pm you, but i noticed i'm not allowed. Any email i could use to reach you with my concerns?

Merged post

i see you guys taking this seriously... 🤢

Based on the information you provided I cannot rule out that the functionality isn't through the official SSO provided by Steam and Discord. Based on your description (that it joins a discord guild, and adds you to an oxide group), those both sound like common and reasonable use-cases that I know are commonly available using official Steam/Discord API's.

Regarding their business model, whatever they are charging or not charging, that's beyond the scope of the review process. Provided that the company isn't engaged in malicious activity then it's up to the individual whether or not these services are worth it to them. The review process isn't designed to pick winners and losers, we simply attempt to ensure a minimum level of quality.  For example, we sometimes get authors submit plugins that connect to third-party services they've written but are hosted literally from residential IP addresses on personal hardware. That is something we would absolutely prevent from being published until the author sets up a more permanent home for their services.

Also I would strongly recommend that you consider the Community Guidelines.

did you copy-paste this from a spreadsheet? sorry, calytic. I lost my trust in umod. Let this kiddo play with his shitty website and make money without the proper paperwork. I already put an email out. You need a chamber of commerce when your offer subscription packages. Every 5 year old know that by now.

Hi, I have only just seen this so I apologise been busy coding and developing this further. I can assure you that this is a legit service. It's not a scam in any way.

The purpose of the plugin is to remove the need to host your own website/servers to allow for an account linking feature that uses Steam and Discord SSO.

From the sounds of it, you don't fully understand what the product is as well as the business model.

I would recommend reading about SSO and what it actually does. Steam and Discord provide methods of proving who someone is. Not for taking their details. The software model is also what is known as a SAAS ("Software As A Service").

I'm not too sure what caused you to be so frustrated by this plugin. It states that it's not a free service. It's the same as tebex and their plugin. You also don't have to use it. If you want to reach out to me in a professional manner to ask questions you are more than welcome to mrcameron999#0001.
