Interesting evening with possible hackers
Hey Guys.

First post on here so forgive me if its alittle noob to ask. We have a live public server with a few plugins (listed below)

I have managed a large server before but never experianced at what happened last night. I found two players that were ransacking bases, overiding doors, overiding locks, overiding turrets, pin codes etc. I banned one of them instantly, and he was able to get back onto the server. It took me several attempts to ban him via Battlemetrics.

My first questions. Is this something which is known about? I know most games have hacks but this was a doozy hack, and screwed up many bases, and in turn pissed off my server, and numbers plummeted!

Second, and more important, what security plugins or addons can be added to stop this dead in its tracks. As you can imagine this type of hacking can devistate a server, especially one trying to find its way.

Regards

Andy

I highly recomend using this umod plugin: https://umod.org/plugins/steam-checks

Block all private steam accounts and force them to join showing their steam ids so you can easily ban them fast if needed.

If you are using battlemetrics rcon tool, then that's great, but here's also facepunch's rcon tool which you can easily and quickly kick/ban users and/or retrieve their steam ids for lookup.
facepunch's web based rcon tool: http://www.rcon.io

I like to combine this into discord to monitor chat: https://umod.org/plugins/discord-messages
I use a couple paid scripts that work well with all of these to accomplish the end goal.

This player administration tool works very well for in game admin: https://umod.org/plugins/player-administration
Once you have the perms to use it type: /padmin and the panel is very informative and works great for spectacting players etc.

Hope some of this helps ya.
yes moderator caught hackers opening doors of others and we had complains about players opening doorlock the day before.
