plugin works great but for some reason when i log off and rejoin im back in vanish even if i wasnt in vanish when i logged off any ideas on what to check

Hi this is probably due to the below line in the config, try setting it to false.

"Automatically vanish players (with the vanish.use perm) on player connect": true,​

that line says false for me

Please can you share your config and also confirm you are using the latest version of the plugin.

Check if you have the permanent vanish right.
