Rust server high ram usage

I've been running Rust servers on and off over the last couple of years but now I notice the ram usage is insane. I'm using 11gb on practicly an empty server.

Is this normal? pretty sure it was like max 7gb few years ago on a busy server with the same (4000) worldsize

Hi, i noticed higher ram usage (7 to 11 for me too) since september updates. It was the updates with the new oxide compiler. But i donΒ΄t know what exactly is responsible for this.

I started to notice it a few wipes before the new compiler, i have a low pop server and it sits at 11-12gb with only a few on, one thing that has always puzzled me is that when you check your entity count then restart the server that number goes up by10-20k and does that everytime i do it,
I have noticed that the new compiler shuts down after the plugins have been loaded, it will start up again if you reload a plugin then shut down again as soon as the job is finished. Another thing to take into account is that monuments have increased dramatically over the years, apart from the 10 larger ones you have a lot of large and small substations, electrical towers with "rat runs" , underground rail entrances and now an entire underground/surface rail network. Just have to up the ram a bit i suppose.

I have actually round about 12 gb ram usage with 40 players online on a 4.9 k custom map and 220 installed plugins. For me, it's not that bad since I still have 38gb of buffer. Only my testserver was at 8 gb and he was unable to run since sept. I have increase the 8 to 16 and now it is running normal.
Server owners with lower ram should think about to get some more.

The Rust client RAM has also increased dramatically lately. That's progress I suppose πŸ˜„

+3GB of client's ram on the same 4K card(before 13, after 16) in the latest update due to DLC and there is no way to turn it off

I am at 12gb with 5-10 players and like 100 plugins... it still sits there at almost full useage

This is normal.

12gb ram is considered "high" tier for shockbyte... but now I am getting RAM crashes on the server lol

You can reduce it a bit by having a smaller map, try 3000 - commercial game server providers always sell inadequate RAM, I don't know how they get away with it.

I am on 16gb with Streamline and have to reset at least once a day to lower ram usage.

Smaller maps will reduce entities but also reduce monuments and new game "attractions" , recommended map size by FP is 4500
