Server not listed, sometimes freezes

by default 28015 is the game and listing port
RCON       28016

looks like the wiki page has been updated no mension of 68 anywhere now .

when the server has booted go to console and type

app.info

just make sure that port is opened or the rust+ companion won't work.  If you need to switch it to something else, you can specify the port to use in the app.port convar. This port must be 10000 or higher for it to be successfully reached by our Rust+ backend. You will need to restart your Rust server for the port change to take effect.

There never was any good reason for +68 specifically, you can use any port number you like as long as it's not already in use by something else. This is probably why they quietly removed this from the page, because of this kind of confusion.

I can't use any port I want now, man! If I use any port (3000 for example) I wait for server start and it's showing me that "Server can not connect to port 3068" and that is not described anywhere exapt here 👿 so I have to forward 4 ports (3000serv, 3001rcon, 3068serv, 3069rcon) to make my server run and be visible in search. And now tell me, how can people know about how to setup server locally? Confusion is thath they removed this info.

yes. so I owned rust four years ago and there was nothing like +68. now I am tryed to setup my server as usual and I got so much insulted because I am experienced server owner (Rust Legacy-7d-ARK Survival-Rust-Empyrion I just had a rest of Rust because of ARK Survival servers took a lot of time to admin them) and I did what I know and what was working for me years and years but now it did not work 🤪 anyways thx for this thread. It is really helped to solve this strange issue which has no logical explanations)

If it's trying to connect to a different port number than the one you specified, then there is something else affecting it. Are you using a commercial host that has its own rules or something? If not, how did you install rustserver and on what type of host? The more details you can give about your setup the better to help you.

it's all simple. I own windows PC which I use to host a game I like. Router forwarding and brandmauer setup is common for any port so there is no need to describe it if You an experienced in this
so Rust was like SteamCMD and commands.
IDK any other way to setup.
for example this page is in my bookmarks from 2016 and nothing changed from that time. but now rust want me to forward one more port with +68((
