On the mod page there are two examples of the config file, master and rewrite branch. Can I use the rewrite branch? I like some of the extra options it has but when I change it to the rewrite config and start the server, the JSON file reverts back to the master config.

Thats because in order to use the rewrite config you need to use the rewritten version of the plugin, you can find this under the updates tab and then by switching branches.
