Formatting the color for the name?

I can't figure out how to add color to the item's name, as no matter what I try I can't get anywhere with it, mind giving a working example?

First enable the color option in the configuration file then, to add color you must format it like this:

GOOD<color=green>test</color>

BAD<color=green>test

Ah, that makes much more sense. Thank you!
Is it also not possible to have a space in the name? Whenever quotes are used it refuses to format the text.
