I update my loot tables using lootify but their is items spawning in the crates that arent on the loot table(smg body), even if I set the max slots to 5 it still will populate 8 items sometimes. 

you did restart the plugin after uploading new loottables.json? can you show/link your config, and loottables.json please. Specifically lets talk about just 1 container
