It's hard writing code. I do it for hardware. I get it.
If you are writing for a "community" who get it for free it can be even tougher. No apprecation for the effort and no love when things break.
I quite like the idea of this plugin and do apprecate the effort that goes into writing and testing this stuff.
That said. I too am like the majority out there that expect released software to "just work" pretty much out of the box. Free or not.
This mod is potentially quite a good addition to the modded community BUT not until some of the bugs are ironed out.
I feel like I have been beta testing this mod for the last few months but have now had enough.
My small user base are giving me hell over it not working so I have removed it for now.
They actually apprecated that move even though they like the larger stacks.
Having something that half works is not really an option.
Can't say I blame them.
So I wish you good luck getting this plugin polished for prime time.
Let the community know when it is.
There's no need to consistently update if nothing is broken for you. Presumably you found version 2 worked well enough, why not stick with that one until I've satisfied your requirements. I genuienly am indifferent to which you choose however. I just find it ironic that most issues had workarounds in the forums, and now allow you to completely disable the new functionality making it stable and that's stated in one of the patch notes and multiple times on the forums.
I'm glad your encounters with other free software has been so pleasant, especially considering all the existing flawed plugins for Rust.
Unfortunately my policy is limited spoon feeding. If everyone must have these fairytale flawless releases then instead of spending their money (of which I provide no avenue to do so) they can reach out and contribute a small amount of their time to help me test, because everyones environment, setup, and plugin suite is unique, testing that myself is a joke.
Bottom line this is a free market, if I lag behind move to an acceptable "competitor" and if you can't find a suitable alternative consider contributing to the best plugin.
Honestly you have been beta testing, only so much I can test for and in my opinion it's you're responsibility as a server manager to ensure the stability of your server, and I presume most server owners are smart enough to not test in production. Live updates are a bad idea, and puts way too much trust in something someone works on in their spare time.
You're already doing that by removing the plugin, presumably v2 had more issues than benefits as well and this is the best decision for your server.
Cheers
