BetterChat Emojis not working (Staging)Solved

Emojis do not display with August Update using Betterchat, thank you.

Will this temp patch work with live build now??

Seems so, actually no problems and the smileys work.

Fixes the emote issue, thank you. Only thing I've noticed so far is that it prevents chat from showing up in RCON / Battlemetrics. All the messages come through empty, which doesn't happen with the other version.

Yeah i also noticed it causes plugin like "Better Chat Mentions" to not function, so here is another temp patch https://pastebin.com/FbBbnXjr

Thanks for this :)
It seems to work fine, though breaks Ultimate Rcon+ Discord > In Game chat.

Same; brought in the emojis, but broke our DiscordChat plugin (shows up with the BetterChat title, player's name, then no text). Sadly ViolationHandler's actually gave me an error message of " Error while compiling: BetterChat.cs(1028,0): error CS1525: Unexpected symbol `}' "

That'd be a mb, managed to duplicate the

internal class BetterChat : CovalencePlugin

some how lol sorry about that

All good! All coding makes me feel like a caveman typing at keys, and C++ and C# even more so

Edit: Your fix worked like a charm!

this just messes things up more keep it how it is in my opinion you shoulnt change it untill the proper developer fixes it

Well, when the proper dev fixes it, let me know... Til then, no one has issues with it besides things that are literally out of control of the devs/myself. Plus, at this point I'm pretty sure its being used by a good number of servers. Any other fix I've seen that was actually decent and of the newest version did basically the same exact shit I did.

The colored chat that users want while also wanting emojis to work is literally impossible with the current way Rust is... Rust needs to update their game for all users with the fix for it to work. This includes Size as well.

Instead of just saying it won't work, explain the issue so people can attempt to fix the issues you're having. I can't fix something I don't know is broken.

Nah, dude went through the effort of adding emoji support on an outdated plugin, restored the functionality for all the people in my server who were just spamming "M" because it wasn't working properly, then he fixed the chat log issue almost immediately. It's the best we've got, and it works perfectly fine.

It's the same situation for many other plugins too, the community is carrying them on their backs after the original devs stepped away.

I applaud the effort of anyone knowledgeable that steps up in place of an absent plugin developer. I've tried this version, and another that's circulating on the official Rust discord. Both have the same desired effect of allowing emojis to work, but both also kill chat in rcon. I had to weigh the importance of being able to monitor chat, or let folks use emojis - and emoji use took a backseat.
