Unloading Better Chat allows for curse words. Loading Better Chat filters bad words and shows them as *****. I have run a supported plugin in the past, Better Chat Filter, but A/ it isn't the filtered words from that plugin that gets censored and B/ that plugin and all its files has since been removed.
Is there a setting I've missed with better chat that censors chat? What should I do to resolve this. I don't run any other mods affecting chat behaviour.

Correct. I have removed that plugin from my server entirely. No configs, no language files etc etc left.
You sure you're not just seeing the effects of Facepunch now using the Steam chat filter? It would be a per-client setting.

I think you are right there, I unloaded BetterChatFilter and tried a few choice words and just got **** instead. might remove BetterChatFilter as dont really need it anymore.

I mean, unloading the Better Chat plugin cause the chat to be uncensored. I don't think it has to do with Steam settings since then the chat would be censored after unloading the plugin no?

BetterChat does not filter chat BetterChatFilter does, If you do not install BetterChatFilter it is then up to the client (player) to change their Steam settings to censor the chat, As I dont want any chat to be uncensored i left BetterChatFilter installed,

If you wish to keep responding to this thread I would like to clarify it for you. I don't have ANY other chat related plugins (anymore) except for BetterChat. It is however ONLY when BetterChat is active that the chat gets censored. If I turn it off nothing gets censored. It doesn't seem to be an issue with new Steam settings. It is something to do with BetterChat. I've tried reinstalling it, removing all relevant files etc. I also removed all previous relevant files such as config/data/lang for BetterChatFilter. I don't get it why the chat gets censored with ONLY BetterChat active.

Just following up to +1 to Fangs. We're seeing the same behavior; the only chat plugin we have is BetterChat, and we're now seeing **** in lieu of strong language, but -only- while BetterChat is loaded.
Also have the same problem- chat is sensored but only when BetterChat is loaded. Is there a fix for this?
It was infact the steam chat settings.
Steam>Settings>In Game>Chat Filtering.
I re adjusted my settings and none of my words are being censored anymore while BetterChat is loaded.
