I'm not entirely sure if this mod is responsible but it makes the most sense as it has to do with vehicle despawning and I have nothing related to cars other than my better driving mod. Currently no cars are spawning even though ive increased the pop to 12 per km

So a day or two ago I ran modularcar.population: "6" to increase the limits hoping that would help and that didnt seem to help
I just ran modularcar.population: "12" and spawn.fill_populations as well as spawn.fill_groups and that seems to have helped

im fairly certain its default but i could be wrong, all i know is i checked around the entire map with it at "6" per km and the default is "3" and i couldnt find any, im not saying your mod is causing the issue, i just figured you were the best person to ask. i ran the stats and there are a good amount of cars now but i also have it set to 12 per km
so the cars people own count as part of the spawn pop yeah? which would mean people own all of the cars currently i assume, if i have a 4k map (2.25km squared) and 3 per km is default, that should make idk 8-9, but if thats the case when i switched it to 12 i should have 27 on map but i have 56.... im so lost lol
final edit, i think im too high because that math above is wrong and im just now realizing this. ok so 4000 map would be 16 square km but not all of its used cause water so 16 times 6 should be 96 and lets says a little less than half is water and you get around 50 which is what i have on the server now... but why wasnt it spawning until i ran the command? maybe settings it to 6 fucks up spawn? idk ill keep testing by running carstats and changing the value. dont even respond to this, im a dumbass

Owned cars do count towards pop, but I saw a commit by FP devs a few days ago that they are changing that, since one of the side effects is that player spawned vehicles may be deleted on server restart if over pop, and they want to allow boats and horses to spawn randomly without affecting player vehicles. No vanilla vendors spawn cars yet, but we'll likely be able to make plugin-spawned cars, or cars claimed somehow by players to not be included in the pop, using the same approach as FP.
The config you have prevents decay near TCs, so those player vehicles are probably contributing to reduced natural spawns.
I'm not sure that the convar is exactly cars per km. I remember the formula looking a bit more complicated than that, which could explain why you aren't seeing as many as you expect.

ok so currently the spawn rate on cars is fucking buggy
set pop to 3 (all cars slowly faded away, starting from the 56 i mentioned and slowly despawned all the way down to 6)
i saw it sit there for a second but only because the cars alive were pretty good health still
set pop to 4 and spawn.fill_populations not a damn thing
set pop to 6 and spawn.fill_populations not a damn thing
set pop to 12 and spawn.fill_populations and now i have 55 cars...
wtf is going on lol ill be back with more info
