Is there a way to set it where while the plugin gives the user a oxide role also giving them a better chat tag ?

Better Chat uses oxide groups, so yes. It in fact already works with it.

i set it to give me vip as a trial but i do not get the betterchat tag ?

Make sure your Better Chat group is also called "vip" and your Better Chat groups are configured correctly for the vip title to show etc.
