Need some clarificationSolved

I have been using this for a week or two, just fine. Zero issues. I set it up exactly how I wanted it, all is well.

In the description it says you must find an external way to start your server, so I set one up before the first usage of this plugin. I set it to restart 5-6 mins AFTER Smooth Restarter shuts down the server to ensure its all ready to be started back up and I can leave it to moderate itself.

Well, The server automatically restarted like it normally would if I did it natively from console, without waiting that 5 mins I gave it from my external solution. I have gotten rid of any 'external solutions' that could start my server after it shuts down, and it seems to restart normally with Smooth Restarter alone. Perfectly fine.

Did I read the description on this page wrong?

(Note: this isnt an issue/error. I just want to understand if its smooth restarter starting it back up or or not)

You'd have to have an external solution to start your server, there's no way for a plugin or the server itself to actually start it when they are both offline.

Well...my server is restarting on its own...with just smooth restarter. as I stated above.

I took out any external solution to ensure im not misunderstanding. Every night it starts back up..on its own.

im not trying to be ignorant, or rude. I am just trying to understand what could be doing that...if I eliminated everything besides SR.

You'd have to have an external solution, either via host or .bat/sh or other tool, etc. There server isn't physically capable of turning itself on when it isn't on; it doesn't run a service natively and doesn't have a way to start itself.

Are you on Windows or Linux? Could you provide what you use to start the server?

The description is accurate, so are Wulf's posts. Neither SR nor server itself can restart on its own. Your host must be providing some auto restart solution which you did not notice.

There is literally no such feature in rust dedicated server build.

Heard. I suppose ill delete/mark solved the thread seeing as there is no issue!

This plugin is solid, and nice to have. I appreciate you both.

Hi. Are you using rust server manager? because it has the option to restart your server after shutdown
