uMod - Skins not appearing in-game - Skins

This plugin is not working. I do, for instance, /skin add hoodie -skinID- , skinID being the ID of an approved skin, and it does not show in the "loot" area when I do /skin while holding a hoodie.
/skins also does not work.
I've also tried it with unapproved skins, which I don't think work, but just in case, they too do not work.
I've even tried reloading after adding them and nothing works still.

Nevermind, I figured it out. You need to drag the item into the loot slot then it shows the skins for that item rather than showing it for the item you are holding.
The documentation of this is very confusing and I wish it was better.

Why would it show you some skins for the item.you are holding? Skins and any similar plugins have never worked like that and noone complained before, lol...

In my case i needed to restart the server. I still haven't figured out why that made a difference ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe you haven't reloaded the plugin after changing the configuration.

Had a look through the logd stack. Looks like the DS didn't restart. So it was my bad.
(I'll have to figure out why apparmor is making my life so difficult)

because it could, and there are existing error messages for not holding an item which lead me to believe that was how it operated
it would be much more convenient for it to work this way

PlayerSkins over at another site works like that :) A GUI like that and automagic workshop (not yet approved) skin-grabber would make for a awesome update ;)

Also, is it possible to get a shortname from a skinID?

It's called piracy and is actually not appreciated. It's not piracy if you're using unapproved skins tho AFAIK, so if you know a way of finding them in Steam then sure.

I think you misinterpreted what i meant. I wasn't suggesting that you should rip a fellow devs code and use it as your own.
The large UI it has allows for a proper preview of the skins, and it was about that i was hinting :)
