While messing around with a few plugins I needed to remove my ownership and admin group. I disconnected from the server (private and empty) and tried to reconnect only to realise the whitelist plugin wouldnt let me in. I added myself back to the admin group via RustAdmin and kept my ownership stripped. When I logged back into the server this time I was kicked and permanently banned (Cheat Detected) it said. I can assure you I have never used such thing. I hope this is a rare occasion and directly linked to my quick changing of ownerships/groups, maybe while I was logging in. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks. P.s I don't need help regarding the 'ban' as I understand it's just a case of removing myself from the data file, I'm just confused as to why this happened.
Banned from my own server (Cheat Detected)
banned eac? steam? or only on your server?
Just the server via this plugin, nothing major I could remove it in a few moments and rejoin as usual. I’ve Tried to replicate the error again but can’t seem to do it.
You can only get banned for attempting to fly while you are not an admin and is done by the game, not plugins.
In the last month or so (since the updated EAC) I have received about 5 "EAC" temporary 10 minute bans from my own server, I think it was due to time out issues but have no idea what caused it,
"Cheat Detected" is just a simple method inside rust to avoid fly hackers however EAC bans are handled by EAC and those temporary bans are caused by lag.
I understand now, 'Cheat Detected' was not produced by EBSystem and it would have still happened whether I had the plugin loaded or not. Thanks for your response.
If you are using noclip (admin command) and disable it while it still accelerates you, anticheat detects this as hack. Look for anticheat.* commands, there is an option to disable banning for specific reasons or increase forgiveness.
Thank you for all the feedback.
