Hello everyone.
Since the last wipe I've been experiencing a problem on the server and apparently I'm not the only one.
It happens that the electricity randomly no longer works on the entire server, then sometimes it starts working again and then it doesn't work again.
With a reboot it is resolved, but then again randomly, the electricity no longer works on the entire server.
Even the monuments do not work, the card readers remain turned off.
I've heard of other rust servers with the same problem.
I wanted to know if this has happened to any of you before and if so, how did you resolve it?
A thousand thanks
Electricity does not work across the server randomly
I've been having the same issue. One player complained, went to his base and he had a test gen hooked up to some branches, then out to an array of industrial conveyors. All three of the outputs on the Test Gen were connected, but one of them didn't light up the branches. I check the one that was lit, sure enough, 100 power going into the switch and 100 going into another branch. But, when I disconnected on to the switch, and then reconnected ... it no longer worked either. Tried to do some rewiring, then told him I was going to chalk it up to a new plugin that we were using. I was using Lights On. I went back to Everlight (they just got someone new, to maintain this plugin (Lights On is from Codefling, not Umod) and are both free. But, I'm not sure if this was the issue yet.
Then, had a Mod complain that her fluid switches weren't turning over to use water on her planters. I messed around hers, but it was working fine for me, so I'm not sure what was going on.
Then another Mod told me his was acting funny. This was a Testgen to a switch, to a Conveyor. When flipping the switch, it took about 20 seconds before it turned on. He had it connected to another conveyor that had a setting to turn off the first Conveyor if materials weren't present. It worked, but it also took several seconds to process this info and finally several more before it finally shut itself off.
Sorry, I have no answers yet.
I found the solution with this plugin, is a rust bug.

What ended up being the solution? This discord link goes nowhere for me but I am also having the exact problem as OP.scalbox

The solution is through a plugin that checks the turrets that are flooding the electricity queue, when it finds turrets that are causing these problems, the turret is turned off. You can turn the turret back on and everything works fine.
This is caused by an update made by rust, hopefully it will be fixed soon.
I'll send you a link to the plugin, to which I made a change and now in the data folder it creates a log of the turrets it turned off and which player they belong to:

once the plugin is loaded, run the command:
twt
and after a few minutes I ran it again to turn it off.
I set it to activate automatically every 5 minutes, and deactivate it after 5 minutes

Wow, this makes sense, it likely has to do with the large amount of turrets spawned with raidable bases then? I was pulling my hair out trying to narrow down possible causes. I'll set this up like you have and give it a go. I can't thank you enough for your reply.scalbox

I don't think it depends on the number of turrets, because as soon as you turn the turret off and on again, everything works again. I believe that some turrets will randomly flood the tail with rust electricity, regardless of the number of turrets. Of course if you have many turrets you are more likely to have this happen, but I don't think it depends on the number, just a bad update made by rust since they put turret interference. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next wipe

this is a more reliable plugin for finding electrical problems since it is not limited to turrets only
the issue isn't caused by Raidable Bases. it's a rust bug. he was just saying that I make plugins
I get that, I didn't mean to imply Raidable Bases as the source, just a side effect of the bug. My players and I have been loving the plugin.nivexhttps://github.com/WheteThunger/IODebug
