Compass can be disabled using client command. If this command is client-only, I think you can't disable compass for everyone, but maybe we can write a feedback for rust developers.

I found the command: graphics.compass "0" if I want to disable the compass but if I go to the menu to activate the compass, it activates again...
Since it's a client setting, the client will always be able to reactivate it. That command/setting also can't be sent via the server as far as I know.
Oh, it's a pity :(
