Polite Questions About the Paid Version of the Plugin

Hello,

I've resolved the issue with the plugin — Rust Server Manager was reverting my changes because I wasn’t editing them through the application’s built-in “Edit” function.

I'm currently considering purchasing the paid version, but I have a few questions before I decide:

  1. Is the paid version a one-time purchase with lifetime access and updates included?

  2. Do I need to constantly reload the plugin because of something I’m doing wrong? Sometimes it loads 8 bases, sometimes 3, sometimes just 1, and other times 12. I've set it to spawn 180 bases across the map since I play solo on my private server, and having that many would make exploration more fun.

  3. If multiple bases are spawned (ideally all 180), do they persist after restarting or shutting down the server, or are they removed? In other words, does a restart or shutdown wipe the spawned bases?

  4. Regarding the bases included with the paid version — are they fully optimized and better integrated with the plugin compared to ones I might download myself (e.g., via Fortify)?

  5. I use Rust Server Manager. All of my plugins are installed directly through it, as the application provides a built-in plugin manager. If I purchase the full version of the plugin, will I be able to use it through Rust Server Manager, or would I have to switch to another (possibly paid) server manager or install everything manually? RSM currently doesn’t allow installing third-party plugins directly from outside the app.

Thank you very much in advance. I truly appreciate your work — the plugin is a fantastic idea and clearly the result of great effort. However, its functionality on my machine has been a bit unstable so far.

heya, I am glad that you like the plugin

1. I haven't charged anyone a second time in over 4 years, but asking for lifetime of the product is a bit much.

2. yes, you absolutely must fix the issue and reload. if the plugin does not spawn the configured amount of bases then it is an issue with your config, profiles, zones, the map itself, or you want an overly ambitious amount of bases. 180 is overly ambitious, but can be achieved with the correct settings (allowing inland, beach, road, river, etc spawns) and a good proc gen map

proc gen maps over 4k in size can easily support 75 bases ranging from easy to nightmare in size. 4600 proc gen maps can easily support over 100 bases. anything higher is questionable. many (not all) custom maps do not have sufficient flat terrain to support even 5 bases. few can support 10, and even fewer can support 15.

the plugin shows valuable information when it loads: how many zones were allowed or blocked, which loot tables were loaded, and once the grid has loaded it will say how many potential spawn points there are. this is a good indicator of what's wrong. these are clusters of POTENTIAL spawn points, and you would need 4000 of them at the very least. I have stated what the issues could be above.

3. bases do not persist through reloads or server restarts. they are not saved to the map's sav files.

4. Fortify has many great bases available for free and I urge people to look there first. no bases are included with the paid version though. they are all sold separately in tier packages, and are mostly good quality but a bit outdated. though that only means they lack some newer electronics, but I prefer to keep it simple and fewer electronics is better on performance. the quality of Fortify bases is hit or miss just as it is with any base from any source. many third-party bases contain loot in their copypaste files which will be spawned by the copypaste plugin. this is especially annoying, but Empty All Containers Before Spawning Loot option exists in the profiles for this very reason.

5. I know nothing of RSM. that support falls entirely on the tool or updater itself to implement its support for RB correctly. RB is a massive and complicated plugin and should be updated manually only. most tools and updaters fail to download from the correct website, or pull information from the correct website, conflicting with the free and paid versions. I provide IsPremium API for this, but that is the ONLY support I will provide.
