Allow Expiry of Locked Heli or Prevent Aggro/Roaming ElsewhereSuggestion

I feel like this has probably been suggested before, but we have an issue where patrol heli gets locked to a team and then decides to fly away for whatever reason (they take too long, they die, it just has a mind of its own, etc.). Then it goes across the map and aggros to someone else and they can't do anything about it because it is still locked to the original team.

It would be nice if it either unlocked after x minutes of no damage or if there was a way to prevent it from leaving the locked team alltogether. Let me know if you need further clarification.

  • Added `Unlock Heli When X Distance From Owner` (1500 meters) (@dustyhansen)
when the heli flies off to never never land and another team engages then it will activate this setting.

  1. this will only trigger when a player tries to damage the heli. it will unlock, and immediately relock to the new attacker.
  2. Broadcast Kill Notification To Chat will send notice to players if enabled
  3. Broadcast Locked Notification To Chat will send a notice immediately afterwards if enabled, too.
  4. this will clear all previous damage entries for any players not allied with the new attacker
this will prevent any confusion among your players when it happens.

so, this had the opposite effect during testing on a high pop server. it created a lot of confusion, and I had to remove it.

I'd recommend that you reduce the lock time of helicopters to achieve the same result

I could potentially explore an option to have it remain around the player instead, but it is common for players to abandon it after dying so this has its downfall too
