I run a battlefield server; and run the "Anti Items" plugin, which stores Ammo and Components in hidden slots; so that guns never run out of ammo, and a user only needs harvestable materials to craft things like guns and meds. However, when somoene saves their loadout; it also saves all of the hidden items.
