I have the config set to 5 seconds and I have the controlled permission, but it takes 10 seconds to research. I haven't tested the instant.

The group the player was in only has instantresearch.controlled. The permission isn't in the default group.
What's weird is, as admin, my research is instant, but I don't see any permissions assigned to the admin group at all. Does admin have instant research automatically?
Lastly, I have it set to "Override 'Controlled' with 'Instant'": true, I imagined that meant if you had instant permission it would override the controlled time.

Being admin does not matter, it must be getting that permission from somewhere else.
That is correct, enabling that to true overrides controlled with instant, if you have both permissions.

Interesting. I just renamed InstantResearch.cs and I'm still researching instantly. Must be some other plugin at work here...I'll track it down and then return. Thanks for the fast response.
