is it possible to change a setting, so when the event pops up it has that big UI in the middle which is fine, but it also shows up in-game chat, is there a setting to disable that or visa-versa?

You must have enabled chat messages, default config only has the gametip enabled 

"Use Chat Messages": false,
"Use Game Tip Messages": true

i see thank you, for some reason the sound effects are mute, maybe i need to change a setting or update the plugin maybe?

There are no sound effects in the plugin
