After 1.3.3 the fire aura won't go away for me.

When the event is over and chest is gone?

If I have 
"Require All Npcs Die Before Unlocking": true,
"Unlock When Npcs Die": true
The fire aura never goes away, and players cannot get to the bots or treasure.
If both are set to false it works as before.

The "The protective fire aura has been obliterated" never gets triggered if those 2 settings are set to "true".

Maybe I misunderstand what the new settings are for.

This is intentional with those settings, though I'll change it to keep it on par with how it was.
