In config file,  verify that "Oil Crater Chance" is not 0
ex: "Oil Crater Chance": 50.0,   give a 50% chance of having an oil crater

also did you set permission to use backpumpjack. without permission, surveycharge will give vanilla minigquarry
give "backpumpjack.use" to default group

Thanks for this. II have a couple more important questions now but first I will tell you I had a stroke not long ago and it has messesd with my brain enough that I have considered packing Rust in. Regardless, I think I figured out how to get only crude oil in the config but would like to knoww if Quarry Controller can work with BackPumpJack unless there is another way to achievve similar that I am just not seeing. Atm

1. pump jack has vanilla diesel usage (2 minutes per diesel) and vanilla output rate

Quarry Controller should be compatible but i did not test (Quarry Controller is a paid plugin )
Quarry Controller manage the static map quarry and pumpjack
BackPumpJack is for the player placed quarry and pumpjack. but this should be set to false in config to avoid conflict between both plugin
