I am running Debian, do I need to plan a cleaning of the stored images?

As far as the know, the images are saved in the game database.  I have also looked on my Linux server and didn't see any standalone image files.

You'd have to delete the entire .db that Rust uses to store sign images and whatever else it stores in it if you want to "clean" it. Generally I wouldn't worry about it unless you want to start fresh.
