Recently, there is a hacker who can quickly hang hundreds of false players on your game server by exploiting Steam's vulnerabilities. The number of online players has changed from one person to hundreds, and the connection is constantly established. Then your server IP address will be blocked by rust in a few minutes. What can I do?

I would suggest starting with blocking all private steam profiles from joining your servers.

Also block all vpn/proxy connections.

That will lower the odds of it happening as these people almost always under a vpn and on a hider provate steam profile.

There are free umod plugins here to do all that.

This is why I block chinese IPs and I have the VPN blocker.  Not all chinese are bad but the majority are (for whatever reasons), this game, Atlas, you name it.  The best programmers in the world are from: Russia and China.  You can get private or not so private hacks if you can read cyrillic or chinese. Not everyone is a programmer but being from one of these areas you can obtain them pretty easily.  Until (if it ever there will be) a law that cheating will result your arrest and equipment being confiscated the problem won't go away.  It is literally a billion-dollar-rubles-euro market to produce cheats.
