Can't see plugin files or permissionsSolved

Hi,

I got a new server running and oxide is installed by the host automaticaly.

Now when I read the console it says Admin.Radar plugin is being loaded ok in 30ms.

When connecting via FTP on the server though I see not a single plugin (*.cs) in the plugin directory. I do see some *json files in the config directory though.

Anyway the console doesnt show any permissions for Admin.radar or such

When I try to upload the admin.radar.cs into the plugin directory the server restarts and kinda gest stuck in a reload loop.
Anyone here seems that behaviour familier and can give me a tip what to check ?

I just want to install more plugins and get admin.radar to work. Also Id like give a specific group the permission to use admin.radar.

How are you “searching” for the permissions? Also,  check your oxide/logs for errors. If you see anything odd, feel free to share them here and we'll take a look.
It could be that your host has a centralised repository of all plugins that are shared with all the server owners. These would be in some other system directory that you can't see, and would explain why your plugins directory is empty. As long as Admin Radar is actually working for you, then you only need to edit the AdminRadar.json file in your config directory to tweak it, and use your console to set permissions etc.

I should also mention that although AdminRadar has great features, I stopped using it because it's really flakey. It randomly shows markers to all users when it's not supposed to, refuses to unload without a full server restart and annoying stuff like that.

To give some more infos:

I checked the logs and there is really nothing that catched my eye. consider it a BRAND New installation and everything is installed properly by an admin panel.
I checked the permission with oxide.show perms and its not listing ANY plugin permissions there. I am not sure if installed a plugin correctly shouldnt the permission be shown there automatically? I dont think I have to create them, do I ?

Do you know why the server did restart on its own and didnt came back as soon as I uploaded the *.cs file into the plugin directory?

Seems a bit odd that uploading a file would do such a thing?

 

Only things that are working now is Rust:IO and Rust Alerts. I didnt install any plugin except them. Its just that the log shows AdminRadar and that seemed weird.

 

Also no idea why my server just restarted on its own out of nowhere!

Its really hard to troubleshoot when you dont know where to look exactly and what is the last msg before the server shuts down....

Also very werid. NPCs used to spawn near junkpiles. After todays manual server restart (cause crash!?) there are NO NPcs, not even on the oil rig.....

Without seeing your full log, it is hard to know what is going on. It sounds like the plugins aren’t being installed in the right place though. Rust:IO and Rust Alerts are not plugins though, they are extensions and are not installed in the same location.

Right, according to your log, there are no plugin files in the oxide/plugins directory, else your host has the plugin watchers disabled in oxide.config.json.

The point is that the files are either not in the right location or automatic detection and loading of them is disabled. If they were in the right location and watchers are enabled, then you would see loading attempts in the log file.

You’d need to make sure they are installed under oxide/plugins (or where the oxide.directory is set to if you or your host uses that) and that automatic plugin detection and loading isn’t disabled (PluginWatchers) in the oxide.config.json file. If the weathers are disabled by your host, then you’d have to load each plugin manually.

As soon as I put any *.cs file into the plugin directory and restart the server the server wont come up again and restarts in a loop.

What can cause this behaviour?

I’d suggest trying with just one plugin, but there’s no indication that the server even sees the plugins, so I’m not sure so sure they are the cause. Rust:IO extension output isn’t a restart loop though.
Things not respawning after a restart is normal. Stuff respawns gradually - crates, scientists etc - it can take up to an hour for everything to fully respawn.

I am just replying so others who might find this post are helped with.

Actually it was the host's fault. The server was running in a memory shortage and therefore caused this problems. After they fixed it, everything worked. I am sure I am not the first server owner who had this problem.

Now uploading plugins doesnt make the server to restart.
