RustAdmin doesn't process chat or commands
Just recently I've been having an issue where RustAdmin is connected and I'm getting information in the console, but I'm unable to run commands and chat isn't working. Restarting RustAdmin results in me not being able to reconnect via RustAdmin and only restarting the server fixes it (for a while).
  • It happens after some time, for instance, overnight
  • Console shows activity and RustAdmin seems to be connected properly
  • Sending a chat message acts like it was sent and even shows in the console, but in game, my chat message never comes up
  • If I run a command, whether it's trying to reload a plugin or any plugin command, it doesn't show in the console
  • If I disconnect RustAdmin I won't be able to reconnect unless I restart the server
Last night I made sure to update Oxide to the latest version just in case.

Has anyone else seen this issue? Any ideas what might be going on here?

I've inquired with my host but wanted to check if this is a known issue at the same time.

Thanks in advance.
If you read through the threads you will see that there has been issues with RustAdmin for a while and since everything moved over to UMOD there is not way to contact dev of RustAdmin,

Guess I missed that. Thanks.
Heya there.

I'm using RustAdmin for a while now, as still of today, I have no issues at all.

Some tips to check if its setup correctly

1. Make sure you use WebRcon when connecting with Rustadmin. Make also sure you have activated this in your server settings on your local hosting provider. In this case, i have Fragnet and for that, you need to go into your command setup settings. For any other hosting provider, I'm not sure where to look for that.

2. Double check if you have server rights. Adding a server owner can be done in the command from RustAdmin or in-game. Here, you can find such commands to use in the console in the game itself.

3. Check if your SteamID is correctly added in the RustAdmin configuration settings( not sure if it would affect it, but ah, just in case )

4. What version do you use? Make sure that you always have the latest update. ( go to the tab ''about'' ), sometimes you see a ''update'' sign or something similar to it.

5. Give The rustAdmin tool some breathing space by excluding it from your firewall and give it admin rights. ( right mouse click on EXE file and execute it with admin rights )

6. The same as with RustAdmin, but with steam. Give it some breathing space by excluding it from the firewall and whitelisting it. Meaning, your virus scanner won't scan the files while playing the game ( also gives some additional performances as well )

The only thing you should not use is the kicking system. For some reason, it unbans every other player you banned. If you have to kick or ban players, use the in-game console for it. ( it will also save you the moment when all the sudden you hud changes into a random heap of numbers )

Also, keep in mind to just reboot your server every 48 hours if the server is heavy been visited. Trust me, you feel the difference with a fresh rebooted server without a wipe. It flushes everything. ( see it as flushing a toilet, the old water gets refreshed with new clear water to proper use. )

I have been using it for 4+ years and it used to work very well, I have the latest version and the only problem i have with it is that you cannot use the give function, The dev does not seem to be interested enough in it to change the contact link *for nearly a year,

hmm, that's odd. I can give myself or any other player items in the game towards the rust admin tool. What I cannot do is forcing the information on the server hud such as name, description and image URL but that's unneeded for me as I set it up on the server side. The other thingie that doenst work as intended is the kicking system as mentioned earlier in the post above.

it's weird that the devs are not able to properly respond, are you able to give people in game certain items as in the command console when pressing F1?  This is the command for it

If possible, then its an issue with Rust Admin. ( did you tried to contact them towards PayPal? )
If not, it might be possible that you don't have the needed server rights for it. However, I doubt that as you have 4+ years of experience ofc :P.

I am not going to try to go via paypal as that function is for donations and has no ability for contact ,
I use the give plugin to give to players in game, But RustAdmin has (had) the ability to create a "kit" that you could name and  bestow on players. I use Steamchecks plugin which handles kicking players automatically but use RustAdmin for manual kicks and have had no problems with it,
