Can someone please explain to me why a player on my server got a EAC Temporary Ban when they used the commands for the Pets plugin?

If the problem is with the plugin then surely it should be removed.

Did you also verify for yourself it is causing the problem?

Typically players are so quick to blame servers or plugings for their own issues it's hard to just take their word for it.

EAC bans happen when a player is suspected of cheating client-side (generally with modifications to their client), extremely unlikely to be because of this plugin or any plugin on the site.

He wrote it was a EAC Temporary Ban! So now look in your logs and look what happend with this player! in most cases if a player have a bad connection or something is wrong with losing package or when you are lagging so terribly that the server can’t tell what you’re doing, so EAC give players a Temporary Ban around for 10min.
