Short answer yes, it's up to you to check for updates and annoucements. 
I follow important pages here or "watch" them for updates.

Aslo if you have a discord add this bot and enable it to post updates: https://discordbots.org/bot/303606878468964353
Then you'll have a bot working for ya, and it will post exactly when the latest updates are availble.

Remember to allow it to post rust updates and oxide you will need both.

ahh yes, to enable that particular update bot i believe the default cmds must be done by admin and In the Channel you wish them to be posted

Type:

--updates add     <----- to enable rust updates

--oxide add    <----- to enable oxide updates

You will want to know of both.
