Ive made a few servers over the last few years. all no problems. Just started a new server and its not playing some game sounds. most work but opening doors, furnaces, picking up resourses, none are playing. Just wondering if anyone else is getting this? im also using a custom map. idk if that would do it. Had a friend that owned a server. said he had it happen once. ajusted his main game volume and joined another server then joined back and it never happened again. Feel free to join mine and see for your self 108.61.236.142:28036 thanks in advanced
Missing some sounds on server
In response to madcock83 ():Ive made a few servers over the last few years. all no problems. Just started a new server and its...
Server does not send sound effects "as is", it just sends a request to player's game client to play specific sound. Try verifing your game files, and try to ask other players if they miss effects too.
thats what i assumed was happening, but everyone one the server is missing the same sounds. not really why it could be happening
thats kinda what i was thinking. If i download the oxide folder from my ftp, reinstall the server, reinstall oxide and upload the oxide folder, would i have to redo all permissions and settings. or is all of that stored in the oxide folder?
I saw this effect on a server, "Rusty Hideout 20X". It is heavily modded so I'm not sure what causes it. Did not hear sounds when reloading gun, moving inventory items, or opening/closing doors. Was happening to three other players I asked. Sound is working normally on other servers.
Pure speculation, perhaps some sort of networking problem. Server is thinking that it doesn't need to send certain sounds to players. Maybe something going crazy with CanNetworkTo hook.

question is your map a custom map? have only notice this happen when using some custom maps if you are building custom maps i would suggest updating sound card drivers a friend Pravum is also having these issues on his maps , i believe either it's soundcard driver or most likely something got screwed up with the rustedit since last update and sound isn't applied correctly through out the map
In response to Zugzwang ():The server I saw this happen on, was using a custom map.
And there's no way it is related...
Pravum: Unfortunately I had to remove all rock splashes to avoid sound problems on my map. It's a pity that these splashes cause so many problems because it was optically part of my map. Is there a way to use them without sound problems ? What exactly is the problem with these splashes ? no but are you trying to be a jackass ? this comment from pravum coming from rustography discord maybe if you stop trying to be some smartass , you may learn something
just in case you are under knowledge rustography is a map making discord.....
