Using mods on Community ServerSolved

Hi, simple question,
is it possible to use some mods without falling into the modded category? I've heard that there are some mods (administrative ones) that wont make your server marked as modded.
Is that true and if so - what mods can I use?

Thx

There isn't a published list but essentially you can't use anything that changes the game for players. Your players must think they are playing vanilla Rust. You can have behind-the-scenes admin mods that your players are not aware of.

You set the status of your server (Modded true/false) in the oxide.config.json file.

So if I set the value to false, my server will appear in "community" even if I use mods?

Yes, but if you break the rules your server is likely to be blacklisted when they notice it.

I would say no to all. There should be no indication that your server is modded.

Sure but as Facepunch said themselves: both don't change the gameplay or any mechanic for the players. So they should be ok I guess?

I mean they even use a mod as an exaple we can use, that changes the color of nicknames. So in that case the player would very likely see that a mod is installed.

If you use deathnotes for admin purposes only ex. log to console or log to discord and disable in-game messages completely or leave them only for admins should be OK because players won't see anything and they will feel like vanilla but wait what?! You can use Rust admin and via RCON send messages to the chat PlayerName1 killed PlayerName2 and its not plugin so its totally fine eh? This is confusing example but still if anything changes gameplay mechanics or visually the game is NOT allowed (only for plugins)

About NoGiveNotices is not OK to add it because Facepunch made this spawn notification on purpose and at least in vanilla you should be able to know that every server is clear and if admin spawn shit will be visible to others.

Yep stacksize big no-no...

There are all kinds of arguments that can be made about it, but are you willing to gamble your server's prosperity on it? If FP decides you're breaking the rules they won't argue the toss with you, you'll simply wake up to find your server no longer listed at all and that will be the end of it.

If in doubt, don't do it.

So if I go with e.g. Logger, Admin Radar and Better Chat, I'll be ok? Those are some mods they listed as ok at least...

If you make everything non visible/accessible/noticeble for the normal players is OK...

used Admin Radar to track cheaters, used Better chat in vanilla fro 1 year but my config was done to be exact the same as vanilla chat and only used it for better chat Mute players more easily without giving my chat mods full admin perms and better chat filter too which I guess its fine and the vanilla look was not changed.
