Can't connect to RCON

I've done everything possible and imaginable. It's a localhosted server. I can not for the life of me get any RCON connections to work. OxideRCON is false. ports are opened. Always recieve failed attempts apon trying to connect as if not even active.

Have this in my config files

+rcon.ip "*.*.*.*" ^
+rcon.port "28016" ^
+rcon.password "null" ^
+rcon.web "true" ^

Any ideas or suggestions is greatly appriecated. Spent way too much time trying to resolve this issue. Couldnt get it to work on two different computers. Both seperately fresh installs.

I rent a hosted server so things might be a little different,
I have my RCON port "2" numbers higher than my server port
Connection Info:    **.***.***.**:49025
RCON Info:             **.***.***.**:49027
I have a RCON password (rcon program *RustAdmin will ask for it)
I have Web Recon "Enabled"
My server batch file shows
+rcon.password "*********"
+rcon.web "1"

There are server owners here who run their own home servers so they will be able to help you out.

I tried all of that

Do you have your RCON port opened. Must be Rust server port +1 (not sure if this is true or just myth and you can use every port you choose) but just try to enable port 28016 in the firewall or rooter and portforward it then set it in the startup file and should works... Also do everything pookins said above.

Done it all still didnt work. I'm assuming it just doesnt work on Windows hosted rust servers because i switched on over to Linux due to the server start maxing out ram and seeming like it was having software issues with memory stablability. Now its all works on Linux just fine no issues what so ever.

And I have everything set up the same which makes it even more odd. But it's all working now. It was really odd. Not sure if it just doesnt like Windows or what. Lemme know what you think tho. It's very interesting to me. It maxed out when it would max out at 50% memory before. No plugins, no mods, 2500 map and it kept maxing out. but as soon as i ran it on linux its completely different and normal and everything is working a hell of a lot better. a lot more stable.

I was able to host my server 1st 2 years on my PC and also use RCON remotely from my phone and from the same PC as well (RustAdmin)

But I am not behind router. If that makes any sense... Difference is that you need to portforward if you are behind router and again should works idk...

Like I said I've done it all lol. I've been programming off and on for 15+ yrs and as well as making websites. I've tried literally everything possible from firewalls, ports, configs, ips, and all lol. this thread can be closed tho.
