Which one is better, shared game hosting or vps?

Don't think there is a way to really answer that. If you are going to host something else other than the game server, get VPS or a dedi. Otherwise game hosting is usually better (not always though).

It would highly depend on the type of server you're looking into host. If it's a private server where you want to invite some friends, probably Shared Game Hosting would be the way to go.

If your server is public and want a bit more of control over the system, a VPS or Dedicated Solution would be recommended.

My server for 75 people is built on a vps. With the help of a few plugins, I don't have any problems when there are 50-75 players instantly.
