I think a dev should work on it and sell it, I would pay money for that. My players miss being able to see where heli is and also the "mortality" function where you can see a heat map...

Heat map is good idea. Maybe i will create separate plugin for that.

Also - web maps is old and useless.

I attached a screenshot. I had this pinned on my Discord as I run a monthly server - it's useful for new players to see where a safe place are to get setup and, where's not. Should be called heat/hostility map. In RustIO you have to tick a box at the bottom called "Mortality".

I know this is a little old but how about a map JUST for admins that show where players and structures are since RUST IO isnt working?

This is something i've been working on for the last few weeks, i can render game maps based on map size and seeds or custom maps into png images. This started out as just a fun project for private usage, however, i might be able to make it so, you can render maps as a SaaS.

Or maybe take it even a level higher by making a plugin for live map views (admin only for example). If you have any idea's, hook me up with it and i'll take a look what i can do with it.

@Orange Lusty maps is even more broken pile of crap... every server owner Ive ever talked to that has used Lusty Maps has had nothing but issues and in the end removes the addon

Its very hilarious, because i dont have any problems for at least 2 years of using that plugin. If you have 0 GHZ processor and 0 RAM you will have issues with every plugin.

There are no publicly available alternatives to Rust:IO and/or LustyMap provided by the modding community.

I have been running my server for several years now with Rust iO and dont understand what is meant by "Rust iO not working" I have no problems with it , The plane is visible and so is the "old" helicopter, The dev has already stated that he is working on adding the cargo ship and ch47 to the map, Another point was how hard it was to tick the mortality box at the bottom of the map ! really that hard to do ?.
As an admin I can see all players and all buildings, Players dont want other players to see where their bases are, but with the mortality on its easy to see where the new players are because after about 20 minutes they start shooting each other near their base and it soon shows up, I am having no problems seeing myself and "friends" on the map (in player mode") and have had no complaints from other players.
I have not seen a better map system than Rust IO and if wasnt for other issues it would be available on this site,
