GDPR and Steam ID collection?
Hey all
Porbably have a really dumb question but its more cause i was thinking about it. If you have a plugin that stores player steam ids and say kills in an external mysql database would that be considered "personal data". I know the kills wouldnt but would the steam id because i guess that could link to personal data?
I don't think steamID can be considered "personal data", since your Steam account does not belong to you, it is the property of Valve as stated in their TOS. SteamID is part of that property as well.

Well, you are right at some point, and this is a quote from the RockPaperShotgun post back in the days:

Once again drives home a crucial thing to understand. You do not own your games. Whether bought through Steam, Origin, or any other digital download service that requires a live account to play them, you are at best renting those games, with no guarantee that you’ll be able to continue to do so.

If you want a lawyer to answer your question - you'd probably better be going to a lawyer. It's a modding community website, and you are getting answers from modders and server owners.

was making a joke.
