I have a Dedicated machine and I set up a Rust server with no issues. However, after around 20 minutes of no connections it's as if the server goes to sleep. I get no response from it on the Steam connection info and it doesn't appear in the Rust server list. If I connect to RDP, go to my website, or refresh the info on my Gmod test server(all of which are on the machine as well), the Rust server "wakes up" for another 20 minutes. Is there a setting in the start.bat or server.cfg I'm missing or a setting for the cmd prompt window it opens?
Server keeps going to sleep
I have been having a problem too, when I open a server, somehow the server manages to send my internet down, vanilla or oxide eather shutdown my internet even using a 200/100 internet
Can you please not hijack a thread?
Hello, if its a dedicated server so u have full access to the machine. u can look , i am not sure how in english but i think PowerManagmend, if there is something like this that the machine goes standby mode after 20min.
I agree look in your Power Manegment settings and set the computer to never go to sleep and never power down.
Thanks for the replies. I found out what the cause was; The dedicated server I have is behind a DDoS firewall and I forgot to allow the Rust server access through it, so the firewall was denying access after 20 minutes of it being up until I added a rule to allow traffic through to it.
