Is there a plugin that amplifies the red gauge? Or is there a plugin that makes certain weapons and armor unrepairable? It can be done in a way that limits the number of times an item can be repaired.

At any rate, I dislike the system that allows certain weapons and armor to continue to be used from one wipe to the next.
