i run a pve server for 6 months now, ive build up a small community with mature & wholesome players. sometimes you have players join that wont fit the server, cause they act toxic, non friendly, troll or whatever. i dont want to ban people because they talk and act toxic. and i dont want to set up whitelist, because that seems like lots of work adding every player that fits the server. im just wondering if something can be made for the occosional player that wont fit the server to just block him, without banning him because that is to harsh imo. and kicking him wont last, he might log on on a quiet time and throw some monkeys in server

I suggest you use BetterChat Mute and Better Chat Voice Mute and set up Better Chat Filter. (Optional Slap, Player Blinder or Karma plugins to punish players if still assholes like crazy)

I have a PvP x2 server without sh*t and weird rules... Just had a lot of drama during raids and etc so started to mute players... They can still play because they do not do anything bad, even if someone raids my whole server completely it's rust, and yeah... He can be salty, I can mute him and he can still wipe my server and terrorize everyone without a problem. In your PvE case muting them will result in the same... They can play without bothering others. Problem solved... If they still try to annoy others, abuse PvE and prevent others from doing their job, stay near bases, try to be cunts... Take future action. But banning players for chat issues will just lower you pop for no reason... If permanently muted they might leave anyways.

Also, any other clever (plugins) ideas to troll them are welcome to be used... TrollCheaters plugin or something else (now don't remember any more plugins) to make fun with these people till you force them to realize to stop being bad.

I agree with you. Betterchat ignore is a handy tool , they get bored if no one seems to be listening to them. some do it to be noticed and be more important (to themselves) some settle down after a while.

Btw I also say to my players, if you have a problem with someone MUTE him for yourself via opening chat and doing click on his avatar unless the hate speech is targeted to everyone and the server.

Only 1 time had a kid respawning for 3h near one base to troll players living inside making them unable to play but I banned him for a day :D...

You could probably get the Verification Gatekeeper plugin to work for your use case since it can block most features.
