Imagine there were actual visible portals in-game and when you walk through them it makes you literally spawn into another portal in a different server. You could literally walk and switch through 2 worlds in a more immersive way...

This is frowned upon. I don't know why tho but Facepunch looks down on this and I can't see them allowing this in the future.

Pretty sure the only aspect that was frowned upon was the abuse of it, where servers would redirect from one name to another in attempts to steal traffic. There is supposedly a method to do this still, but that remains private.
