According to his phrase "It would be awesome to see posted", the guy just wants it for free.
And not, replicating the plugin is not piracy, piracy is using code from some plugin without author's permission

you can clone as many as a plugins you want as long as it's your code it's just frowned upon.

I'd like to use it as well! Also, I am quite confident Wilsonator is a drone pilot. Some manouvers I've seen in his video are canonical for a pilot.

But apart that, yeah! It would be a damn fun plugin! :-D

I worked on something like that briefly over a year ago.  But it looks like he instead chose to remove the water requirement, and it's a lot smoother.
