I am having similar issue but not by wipeing playtime. After a player ranks up they are awarded next rank witch is correct but they are not removed from previous rank. Which makes better chat display both ranks in chat.
I tried hidden if not primary in better chat but then it messes with those players that have VIP.

Regular and Veteran are Player Ranks. That is what is currenty displaying for some of my players. If I set those ranks to hidden if not primary in betterchat then only [VIP] shows.
It should have removed the player from "Regular" and awarded the "Veteran" rank correct? Then chat should display "[VETERAN] [VIP]"

Well uppon further checking it would appear it only happend to 1 member.....Will keep checking on this and for now just oxide.usergroup remove that player from lower rank.
