I have the permissions manager as well as the freeze plugin installed. I've added the command necessary to admin group. I can see the "unfreeze" and "freeze" in the player administration gui. However, when I click freeze nothing happens. I have to manually do type /freeze playername

Hm, this is odd.
Code seems fine, in the log files could you check if you see a line like the folowing: <player name>: Chat froze user ID <target ID>
