You could try Skip night vote plugin and choose the amount of darkness you have before anyone can vote to skip night, you also choose the (day) time it resets to .
I use FancyDrop plugin which allows you to modify the time between drops, so you could reduce the amount of loot in the drop and extend the period between them, (which is opposite to my settings)
