I have had a total of 3 Rust servers from 2 different companies but both have been annoying the f* out of me.
My first 2 servers were from SurvivalServers. They had good support and my first server ran very well eventhough I didn't have alot of players so I stopped it. Then a while later I rented one again and with the knowledge I had before I was able to make a real succesful server. Unfortunately these guys decided to change the server location on me thus giving me an entire new ip resulting in losing about 90% of my playerbase. This pissed me off so bad that I cancelled the server.
A few months later I decided to rent a server again (my current server i have now), this time at gameservers.com after doing some google research. But with this server I keep having alot of crashes. When contacting them about it a few weeks ago they said Rust is a memory intensive game and we have made changes accordingly. Everytime when you ask them to what they exactly did they dance around the subject. Yesterday I had contacted them again about crashes that started again (probably because the server is more busy now than ever) they said they have increased the memory from the default 4gb to 6gb. So what did they do last time? All in all this seems very sketchy.
So yeah... Obviously I got a big playerbase now so i'm stuck with them because I don't want a different ip again like last time because this kills your server, but the way they respond to your support tickets also seems shady af. They say they increased your memory then later they say they increased your memory from the default. So from what did they increase it the first time then? Or did they change it back to the default after a week of no complaints?
Let me know what kind of server host you use and what your experience with them is.
