New plugins uploaded over old working onesNot An Issue

Keep seeing a trend lately of people taking over plugin Dev for plugins that worked perfectly and had no issues before they started messing with them. This is becoming increasingly annoying, I understand we need people to take up the perverbial torch when someone quits Dev'ing a plugin but people are "Completely Rewriting" the plugin then posting on a Already working plugin their "Rewrite" (Some have described their rewrite as a complete start over) I have had to blacklist plugins in my Autoupdater to stop future updates. Just my opinion but if a Plugin was "Rewritten" to that point wouldn't it be a new plugin?! and shouldn't these people be posting them as such vs basically stealing someone else's plugin name.

Old versions can still be downloaded from the updates tab on the plugin page.

Yes, I know that, that doesn't help the issue though.

While a maintainer shouldn't be doing drastic changes like that, if a plugin is long abandoned it would generally be up to future maintainers to keep it going and having it written in a way that they are comfortable with is generally the best way to keep maintaining it.

With that being said though, if you have an an issue with a particular plugin, I'm sure the maintainer can look into it.

I don't update a few pluigns anymore cause the "rewritten" have been nothing but issues yet the older version still work 100% perfectly. Thankfully. one example is Stacksizecontroller, I guess I'm too much of the if it's not broke don't try to fix it mindset. I'll just manually deal with it. Was just a curiousity as it does create slight annoyances.

Development is something that is constant; you don't just leave it because "it works", you try to improve and fix things. Even with plugins that have always had the same developer, the plugin may go through numerous overhauls and rewrites as the developer changes their standard across their plugins or adopts new methods of doing things.

No need for the post as i guess since our opinions differ, and well mine doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things here lol

Your opinions matter, but what you are asking isn't something we can control and would be up to those developing the plugins in terms of what they change with them. If there is an issue, report it with the developer maintaining the specific plugin.
