I have set up a kit in rust kits named it, made a description, authlevel 0, permissions false, hide true, npc false I have a pump shot gun an ak with 2 attachments, bear meat, medical syringes, 5.56 ammo and shotgun ammo, for clothing I have metal faceplate and chestplate roadsign kilt and gloves, longsleeve shirt and pants and boots. When I try to click on this kit in events manager and try to configure my event it says invalid kit selected. Im trying to set up an Arena Deathmatch. Appreciate the help.

does the kit come up when you type /kit list ?

no it does not, but since I used kit hide true it wouldnt show up in the list, right?

Sorry to say you are wrong (if you are the admin) you will see all kits in the list for the command /kit list as this is an admin command,
This command enables you to see how many kits you have created , it is handy if you have bots at each monument/biome and want to have kits for each one as well as kits for players,
If it does not show I would say that it was created without items/inventory (so nothing to redeem) did you option /kit items (while wearing clothing you want included in kit and the inventory with the items required) ? you should get a confirmation telling you your inventory was copied to the kit.
