SDonate with extra stuff?
Sorry but, isn't this from the same author of SDonate?

That was also sold from GMod store. I purchased SDonate a while back and shortly after the dev pulled development and closed the API sever making it useless for me and anyone else who had purchased it, without warning.

I'm dubious to purchase another from there and be ripped off again when they get bored and start a new project. Tell me I'm wrong?
Hey,

I'm not the author of SDonate nor am I affiliated with them in any way.

Ember has been around for a bit over two years, the Rust plugin for a year or so.

I'm working on Ember fairly actively, but I may also choose to stop doing so at any time. The key difference is that Ember is fully self-hosted with no licensing server or such, so it would remain functional as long as Oxide's plugin API doesn't change too drastically.
Sorry for confusion, thanks for the reply and clarification. I like that it's self hosted, that is what I am looking for. Thanks.

Why would you stop when you charge people for the plugin on Gmodstore ? Who would take over?

Due to economic realities. A one-time payment of $13.99 doesn't really warrant a lifetime of updates. In fact, as per the license, it doesn't warrant any updates at all. The payment is for the license to use the software, as-is. That isn't to say I'd be intending to abandon the product any time soon, but I do have the right to do so and I'm mentioning it here for transparency. At that point I'd probably rerelease it under a permissive license to allow for merge requests, but that's not guaranteed to happen.

While unfortunate, what happened with SDonate is just an inherent risk with purchasing software which incorporates DRM that depends on external licensing servers.
